Recycle Bins

For the last assignment of the semester in recycled art we decided to beautify the trash and recycle bins around the school. Recycle people! C'mon. Saving planet earth one little bit at a time.

Smudge in the Color Red

One of my students smudged some red paint on my lovely yellow wall. I decided to turn it into abstract fine art and write an artist statement for his creation. I'm not much of a fan of writing on or scuffing up the walls, but I saw another post of an art teacher doing this same thing and thought it would be fun.

It reads:

Smudge in the Color Red
acrylic paint on paint on plaster wall

Smudge in the Color Red represents the angst of every day life. The expressive red color shows struggle within the artist to the subject and also signifies the blood within his rage. The quick violence in application describes accidental anger, frustration, and most of all, the artist’s lack of proper canvas.
